This is a classical Victorian Gazebo - probably the best looking gazebo ever. We get frequent compliments on ours, and you will too.
These plans greatly simplify the task of building a gazebo. To see for yourself, click on the Sample Drawing to see how to cut and assemble the rafters. There is no calculating, no "cut and try". The Manual even shows you the simple way to mark the notch in the rafters.
When you assemble the pieces, you will be amazed at how well they fit together.
Although not shown in the accompanying photos, the plans include full details for screens.
Who Made These Gazebo Plans?
My name is Dennis Johnson.
I love woodworking and I love designing things. I am retired now but I had a wonderful career as a designer of instruments - some for space science, some for industrial use. I still dabble in the field, providing consultation services to local companies. I am told I am a stickler for detail and a bit of a perfectionist.
I serve on the Board of Directors of a residence for seniors. We operate a 15 story building with 109 suites. For the 10 year celebration the Board decided to add a gazebo to the grassy quadrangle in front of the building. I volunteered to build it.
I searched for a suitable plan, first at local builder's supply stores and later on the internet. I was very disappointed with what was available so I decided to design my own. The basic shape is not new - it is a classical Victorian Gazebo, in my opinion the most attractive of all gazebo designs. The drawings are all original.
Because it is so much easier to calculate exact dimensions using AutoCAD (the computer drafting system that I use) than it is to "cut and try" on site, I prepared very detailed drawings with exact dimensions included. The end result is that you can safely cut each piece in advance knowing that it will fit exactly when you put it into place. This is particularly valuable when you go to cut rafters for an eight-sided building!
The gazebo featured in the photographs was built that way. Sliding that final rafter into place and finding that it fit perfectly gave me a thrill. I'm sure it would for you, too.
After the project was complete, passers-by would drop in and ask, "Who built the gazebo?" and "Can I get a copy of the plans?" With encouragement from my friends and family I made some improvements to the drawings, wrote a manual, had the www.gazeboplans.info web site designed and began offering the plans over the internet.
Testimonials:
We sell a lot of sets of plans but we didn't get into this to get rich. The price just covers the cost of operating the web site. My greatest pleasure comes from e-mails and photos sent in by customers who have built a gazebo from our plans. Some people can't even wait until their gazebo is finished -- they send me photos taken along the way! We get very positive comments about the quality of our drawings and the manual, frequent testimonials from customers suggest this might be the finest set of documentation available.
